A Family Business

We’re so glad you’re here and considering a Reinberg German Shepherd puppy to add to your family! Allow us to introduce our family to you. Reinberg is a family owned and operated business, led by Nick (owner and business manager) and Jami Lee (Director of Operations) and our four children (professional puppy companions and pooper scoopers).

Nick is also a pastor at Crosspoint Community Church, and owns a screenprinting and embroidery business. Jami Lee homeschools our four children, allowing us more time at home together, and more time to care for the dogs. She also works part time for a non-profit missions training organization.

I (Jami Lee) grew up with a German Shepherd, which was the beginning of my love for this amazing breed of dog. Although I didn’t know many details about breeding as a child, even though my family bought a dog that came with a breeding agreement, several litters, whelping experiences, and countless days playing with puppies, the main thing that drew me to this breed as superior was my own relationship with our dog, Heidi. Her intelligence and fierce loyalty kept me safe as I roamed over our 100 acres of land, and our property and family were guarded well while she was in the family. 

I knew that one day when we chose to have a dog, we would choose a German Shepherd. This meant waiting 11 years into our marriage until the time was right and we could afford the high-value dog we knew we wanted for our family. Thus began our experience with learning more about the breed and choosing our perfect companion, Rio. 

When we began shopping for our pet, we found ourselves frustrated at the way many breeders responded to us - they seemed annoyed by our ignorance and one even told us, after we inquired about a particular dog for sale, “She’s probably more than you’re willing to pay.” 

But eventually we found a breeder who was knowledgeable, reputable, kind and conversational. The first time we visited his place and dogs, we sat down with him for a few hours and asked all sorts of questions. His kindness and attention to helping us understand more about the breed yielded quite an impressionable experience that we hope to replicate with any client who comes to visit us. 

When we first began, we took the advice to heart to be mentored by an established breeder, and we chose who we believe to be the best in the nation to train us and guide us as we started breeding. We stay in constant touch with the breeder we bought our dogs from (who has been breeding for 55 years). Hardly a week passes without a conversation with him, and we are so very grateful for his mentorship as we learn and seek to breed German Shepherds with excellence. If we get to know you and don’t feel that we currently have available the perfect companion for your family, we will direct you to our mentor breeder who likely has what you need. Although Reinberg is smaller, we desire to use that fact to our advantage by being able to provide more personal connection between our dogs, our family, and your family.
